The Benton City Council is the legislative body of Benton, Arkansas, responsible for enacting ordinances and policies that support the health, safety, and welfare of its residents.
Structure and Membership
Benton operates under a Mayor-Council form of government, with the council serving as the city’s legislative branch. The council consists of 10 members, each elected to represent specific wards in the city. Members are typically elected at-large but represent specific wards and serve part-time, participating in regularly scheduled meetings each month.

The main duties of the Benton City Council include:
Enacting local ordinances for public health, safety, and welfare, consistent with U.S. and Arkansas constitutional law.
Approving budgets and expenditures for city departments.
Representing the interests of their constituents in ward matters.
Commissions
